Performance of tires

Filed in: Tyre, Wheels by Gurdip on 05-05-08

Dear Friends,

It is very important to check vehicle tires regularly for wear & tear or for any objects that may be caught between the treads of the tires like nails, glass chips, metal chips or any other foreign objects.?

Defective tires are not only highly dangerous but if you are caught by the authorities, you would be penalized.Tread wear indicators are always on most tires, these indicators are usually tread like grooves on the tires & once these indicators can be seen then it is time to be replaced.

Check the pressure of your tires regularly, including the spare. You will gain optimal performance with correct tire pressures. As a result you will gain maximum braking, handling & grip of the vehicle and enjoy fuel efficiency. Fuel consumption would increase with low tire pressure, shorten the life of tires.

Diminished grip would be caused by high tire pressure, less stability while braking. Tire pressure should only be checked when tires are cold. Warm tires will provide false reading. The owner?s manual of your car will provide you with correct tire pressure for your particular vehicle. You can check the tire pressure of your vehicle by using either a digital or manual air dispenser found at all petrol stations.

These are very easy to use as simple instructions on how to use are on the machines itself. If not, you can always ask the friendly pump attendants.Tires are always made with high quality standards but there are always variations to the thickness of the rubber, steel belts and radial webbing.

All these can total up to weight difference of the overall tire between different models of tires. If while traveling on a straight road you find that your vehicle is either veering to the left or right, then it is time to check the alignment of your wheels.

Frequent question asked: Why does the alignment of the tires go off or go bald on one side?Logical answer: This can happen when your vehicle hits the kerb or potholes or even very high road-humps.

Always be alert while driving to avoid the kerbs or potholes and go slow when maneuvering over road-humps.Correct balancing and alignment of wheel and tires will prolong the life of the tires and it will reduce the wear and tear on it.

Happy driving & have a safe journey.Check out this site again as we will be talking about the various type of tires. In the meantime check out these wheels & accessories for good offers. All comments are welcome.JasWheels
